Berlucchi will again this year be a technical sponsor of the international BMW Golf Cup, one of the world’s most prestigious amateur golf tournaments, now in its 32nd year.
As in 2017, the Franciacorta-based sparkling-wine house will offer, on each of the 20 holes that comprise the tourney, a special “Nearest to the pin Award,” personalized with the Berlucchi logo, that goes to the player whose first stroke ends up closest to a par 3 hole.
Now a tournament fixture, however, are Berlucchi’s Franciacorta wines in the hospitality areas of all the clubs that host the event; players finishing the 18 holes will have the pleasure of savouring a flute of Franciacorta.
The Italian national final will debut in October, with the site still to be decided. The winners will be Italy’s standard-bearers in a competition that will include champions from over 50 countries.
This is what makes it possible for the BMW Golf Cup International a Stableford formula competition to host over 100,000 non-professional golfers, subdivided into three categories, the first for men golfers with a 0-12 handicap, the second for 13-36 hcp men, and the third for women with 0-36 hcp.
