A mansion of unfading fascination
Palazzo Lana is a noble residence built in the 1500s by the Lana de’ Terzi family, ancestors of Guido Berlucchi.
Constructed over medieval buildings, the palazzo exhibits an extraordinary amalgam of architectural styles within an overall external appearance from the 1600s.
Within its elegant walls, one can admire the portrait of Caterina Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus; paintings that represent Brescia’s Castello; and equestrian-themed figures in the Salone dei Cavalli (Room of the Horses).
These art works testify to the broad and important range of roles that the Lana de’ Terzi family enjoyed in the Franciacorta-area economy, of which the Palazzo is an eloquent witness.
Those who love the history and culture of wine will want to stop in the Sala del Camino (Room of the Fireplace), with its magnificent marble fireplace, where Guido Berlucchi and Franco Ziliani created Franciacorta as sparkling wine “in the manner of the French.”
The cultural and historical heritage represented by Palazzo Lana, headquarters of the Fondazione Berlucchi, is today preserved and stewarded by the Ziliani family.
